R-E-S-P-E-C—-I wanna cry.

Sometimes doing a good thing hurts bad. Like, really bad. Especially when it comes to standing up for your faith and for your self-respect. Especially when you want something more than you’ve ever wanted anything in your life and its just out of reach because of a lack of respect.

But you should respect your relationship with God first, others second, and yourself third. Unless the second is causing you to disrespect the first because then you can’t respect yourself.

How can you tell if someone respects you? They won’t put money,  alcohol, sex, reputation, shallowness, pride, or selfishness before you.

Sometimes finding out others will refuse to respect you and choose these other things makes you feel really used, and unloved….alone. Stupid.

And be careful of those that try to blanket their lack of respect for you by showering you with love or with these other things to make up for the fact they know they are asking you to falter in your beliefs. You will never understand why they will do this. And it will never be any of your business. All you can do is continue to love them, from a distance.

Truth be told, I am spent.

But I know this is just the detour I need to get back on track to where I am supposed to be.

Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. Philippians 4:11
